Narrative
After his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who now lead Rome, Lucius is forced to enter the Colosseum and must look to his past to find strength to return the glory of Rome to its people.. In the years following the release of the first film, there were numerous attempts to write a sequel.
He is eventually tasked by Jupiter and other Roman deities to return to earth to find and kill Hephaestus, a former deity who has betrayed them
His version focused on the more mythical elements of Ancient Rome, and would have seen Maximus arrive in the afterlife, only to be faced with other souls who are yet to ascend further. From there, he is resurrected as a Christian and finds himself journeying back to Rome, on a mission to stop Christianity from spreading, while crossing paths with the new Emperor, Lucius.

The movie would have ended with Maximus being cursed to live for an eternity, featuring a montage of the soldiers battling through the Crusades, World War II, and the Vietnam War, eventually revealing a modern-day Maximus working at the Pentagon in Washington. The studio decided not to go through with this version, but the script is available to read online..

I went to the Copenhagen premiere yesterday, and the movie was great.There is nothing in this movie, that I can’t forgive, and all of the actors, deliver a solid performance. Especially though is Denzel Washington and his choices.There are of course a few logical things regarding for example the naval battle.Sharks and crystal clear water, makes no sense and is not at all logical, but it is also used so little, that&# 39;s it is not too big of deal.I found the story enticing and exciting (maybe getting a bit to superficial in the end), but I don’t think this movie would be so great, if it had only come out 3 years after the first one.The same way "Top gun: Maverick" became a success, I also think this is a success, because the first one had time to be watched and adored for 24 years, setting a stage of anticipation for this sequel, and in my opinion, they deliver.
